General Data Protections Regulations (GDPR) On 25th May 2018 GDPR will be fully implemented into UK law. The one area where we may see change is in relation to the requirement to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO). At present the GDPR requires all public authorities and bodies to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO); no matter how big or small you are. This means dental practices with an NHS contract must appoint a DPO by 25th May 2018. The appointment of a DPO is likely to impose a huge financial burden on some practices with an NHS contract.
